Lenten Education Series: Embracing Evangelism

Wednesdays in Lent @ 7pm  Continue

This year, our annual Lenten Education series will be all about Evangelism in the Episcopal Church. Join us for this six-part digital course exploring our call to seek, name, and celebrate Jesus’ loving presence in the stories of all people – and then invite everyone to more. Each session features teachings on Episcopal evangelism, group discussion, and exercises to help Episcopalians understand the ministry and call to evangelism. All are welcome to attend any session! Visit https://www.episcopalchurch.org/embracing-evangelism/ to learn more and watch a 2 1/2 minute preview video.  Check your Friday email from St. Paul’s for secure Zoom log-in information to the Lenten series.

Episcopal Relief and Development Lenten Meditations

You are invited to meditate on these reflections daily. Many of the authors share deeply personal and painful experiences related to a variety of issues including disease, violence, racial injustice and poverty. You are invited to come to these meditations with an open heart. What you read may challenge you and give rise to unexpected or uncomfortable feelings.  There were some errors with last week’s link to the Lenten meditations booklet. Here is a new link: https://www.episcopalrelief.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Lent-2021-English-BlackWhite.pdf

Monthly Eucharist Scheduled

We will be having a Eucharist Service the first Sunday at 10 am monthly.  Hosts will be blessed at a 10 am outdoor Eucharist Service the Wednesday before, which is open to all.  Communion hosts will be available for pickup the Saturday before the Sunday service from 10 am -12 pm in front of the parish office.  After that the hosts will be available in a basket in Robin Silver’s front yard all Saturday afternoon.

Meet Your New Vestry Member

Ann Knight

I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Benicia (after a brief stay in Wheeling, West Virginia) in 2001.  Our family came to Benicia for my husband Dave’s job.  We have two adult daughters, Emily and Alex.  I first became involved with St. Paul’s through the Traditional Choir.  I was invited to participate during the Christmas season and I never really left!  I also volunteer with the Community Meal.  I am happy to have found a church home that wants to reflect Jesus’ love to all and help make the world in His image, just, loving and equitable for all people.  I am enthusiastic to be part of the Vestry and to assist in the work of St. Paul’s.

Emergency Financial Assistance Available for Solano County Seniors and Benicia Residents

If you or someone you know is struggling to make ends meet because of COVID-19, there are funds available to help. Contact the Benicia Family Resource Center at (707) 746-4352 or Email Kendall Lara at Klara@ci.benicia.ca.us

Church Fundraisers – Start Dreaming!

Although we’re not yet ready for indoor gatherings, there is hope on the horizon! Now is a great time to start thinking about parties or other social fundraisers you could host. You could even partner up with a good buddy to make it happen. Short on ideas? You can always pitch in on the fundraisers the Vestry is cooking up. Contact the church office to volunteer. admin@stpaulsbenicia.org or (707) 745-0307.
