What’s Your Favorite Hymn?

Let us know by filling out the cards in the pews.  We’ll be playing a selection of your beloved hymns on Sundays, Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.  Please leave the cards in the basket on the back pew.

Help Beautify Our Sunday Worship — Become a Flower Guild Member

As some of you know, I recently celebrated my 90th birthday. One of the “jobs” I have most enjoyed at St. Paul’s is being part of the Flower Guild. Flowers are a joy to behold and enhance the beauty of our lovely old church. However, it is no longer possible for me to navigate the sets of stairs outside and inside the altar area safely, so with regret I am retiring.

I know there are many flower lovers in our congregation, but the number of Guild members has shrunk to a handful. Please consider joining. All that is required is a couple of hours once a month. We will show you what to do and help you do it. It is a real pleasure to create with flowers—and easier than you may have imagined!

If you have any questions, please contact me at (707) 750-5637 or virv@comcast.net.

Join the St. Paul’s Holy Strollers in the Relay for Life Aug. 6-7

Mark your calendars for the Benicia-Vallejo Napa Relay for Life fundraiser: opening ceremony and survivor’s lap at 10 am on Saturday, August 6; final ceremony and dove release Sunday morning, August 7. Money raised goes to local support American Cancer Society services, research, and more.

There are two steps to participate as a walker/runner – you must do both.

  1. Register for the walk online at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/stpaulsbenicia22 as soon as possible. Your online fundraising information will be available once you register. You can also register by adding the American Cancer Society “FUNdraising” app on your phone.
  2. Sign up for a time slot on the sheet in the parish hall. We take turns walking and you can walk as much, or little, as you like. Greeters also needed to sit in the shade and give out small gifts to cancer survivors on behalf of St. Paul’s.

You may support the Holy Strollers and the American Cancer Society fundraising by donating online or at several coffee hours now through August (cash or checks payable to American Cancer Society, or see me if you’d like to use a credit card). We will be making luminarias to light at the event in honor or memory of someone affected by cancer (supplies will be available at coffee hour soon.)

Relay for Life is family friendly and all are welcome. If you aren’t able to commit to walking or fundraising, we’d still love for you to stop by for a few minutes to learn more about the fight against cancer, celebrate survivors, and remember those we’ve lost.

There will be track side fundraisers, music, games, dance demonstrations, a kid’s zone and more throughout the day. We open with a celebratory Survivor’s walk at 10 am on Saturday, light the luminarias around 8:30 pm, and then wrap up Sunday morning with a closing session and dove release.

Benicia Vallejo Relay for Life takes place at St. Patrick’s/St. Vincent’s High School track – 1500 Benicia Road in Vallejo. Additional parking is available across the street at the California Highway Patrol facility.
