Set the Bush on Fire by June 19!

There’s just one more week to visit the burning bush and set it on fire with your ideas! Head to the back of the church and grab a paper flame, and add your thoughts: What is God calling St. Paul’s to do? What is God calling St. Paul’s to be?  You can put your paper flame in the collection plate.

Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) Brush–up: Sundays After Church in June (6/12, 6/19, & 6/26)

Starting this Sunday, June 12, all LEMs can meet with Rev. Annie right after the service to get refreshed on how to serve communion and learn our new post-covid protocols. You only need to attend one session We’ll implement them in July. LEMs are trained and vested laypeople who help with communion at the altar. It’s a wonderful way to learn more about this holy sacrament. If you’re interested in becoming a LEM, talk to Rev. Annie.

St. Paul’s Holy Strollers Relay for Life Team Coffee Hour June 12

Join us for snacks and learn how you can participate in the Benicia- Vallejo Napa Relay for Life fundraising walk to support the American Cancer Society.

Mark your calendars: opening ceremony and survivor’s lap at 10 am on Saturday, August 6; final ceremony and dove release Sunday morning, August 7. Money raised goes to local support ACS services, research, and more.

There are two steps to participate as a walker/runner – you must do both.

  1. Register for the walk online at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/stpaulsbenicia22 as soon as possible. Your online fundraising information will be available once you register. You can also register by adding the American Cancer Society “FUNdraising” app on your phone.
  2. Sign up for a time slot on the sheet in the parish hall. We take turns walking and you can walk as much, or little, as you like. Greeters also needed to sit in the shade and give out small gifts to cancer survivors on behalf of St. Paul’s.

You may support the Holy Strollers and the American Cancer Society fundraising by donating online or at several coffee hours now through August (cash or checks payable to American Cancer Society, or see me if you’d like to use a credit card). We will be making luminarias to light at the event in honor or memory of someone affected by cancer (supplies will be available at coffee hour soon.)

Relay for Life is family friendly and all are welcome. If you aren’t able to commit to walking or fundraising, we’d still love for you to stop by for a few minutes to learn more about the fight against cancer, celebrate survivors, and remember those we’ve lost.

There will be track side fundraisers, music, games, dance demonstrations, a kid’s zone and more throughout the day. We open with a celebratory Survivor’s walk at 10 am on Saturday, light the luminarias around 8:30 pm, and then wrap up Sunday morning with a closing session and dove release.

Benicia Vallejo Relay for Life takes place at St. Patrick’s/St. Vincent’s High School track – 1500 Benicia Road in Vallejo. Additional parking is available across the street at the California Highway Patrol facility.

For more information, contact Laura Peabody-Park at lpeabodyca@hotmail.com (preferred) or (925) 451-0569.
