Gift Cards and Pies Still Needed for Community Meal

Thank you to everyone who has already generously donated gift cards to the Community Meal for the holidays.  We’re still accepting $5 and $10 gift cards, which can be brought to the church office by Nov. 24.  It also isn’t a holiday without pies, so we’re asking for pies to be brought to the church on Wednesday, Nov. 24 before 2 pm.  And lastly, we’ve discovered that our potholders are in shabby shape. If you’re cleaning out and would like to donate heavy duty potholders and/or oven mitts, we would appreciate it! We currently have enough dish towels. Our mission to be the hands of Jesus in Benicia is more important than ever!  If you have any questions, contact Donna Marshall.

Get Your SSP Chili Dinner Tickets

Tickets are still available for the Sierra Service Project Chili Dinner on Dec. 3.  Ticket prices are $15 per adult, $10 for youth 6-12 years (5 and under free!).  Go to the St. Paul’s website and click on the “Donate” button, drop down to the SSP link, and submit your payment.  Print out your receipt, which will be your ticket.  You can also get tickets from Cathy Cellini after the 8:45 and from Steve Rodekohr after the 11 am services.   We will be serving takeout only in the parish hall from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm (Covid protocols). Enjoy your meal on your way to the downtown First Street holiday open house! Proceeds from the dinner will help defray the costs of the SSP campers’ participation in the summer service program.  Thank you for your support! —Tom Sauter, Cathy Cellini, & Steve Rodekohr

Synopsis of the November Vestry Meeting

The Vestry met this past Tuesday night, Nov. 16.  Cathy Cellini led us in a simple, thoughtful meditation on gratitude.  After conducting the normal business of reviewing financial reports, hearing reports from the Junior Warden, Senior Warden and the Rector, Rev. Annie presented a power point regarding the new way the St. Paul’s Budget is being reformatted to be more mission driven. That is, each budget item is connected to a specific category. The hope is that the budget will be more streamlined, clearly connected to our values and easier to understand. Annie also shared an infographic she’d developed for Vestry recruitment.  It explains the what the Vestry is, what is expected of a Vestry member, who may serve, and the time commitment required. Meetings are held monthly on the third Tuesdays at 7 pm in the parish hall and are open to St. Paul’s members.

American Rescue Plan Act Funds Survey
Be part of deciding how Solano County spends $84 million in one-time funds to benefit the community. The Solano County Administrator’s Office, by direction of the Board of Supervisors, is conducting a Community Engagement Survey to collect input through Nov. 30. You can find the survey here: https://www.SolanoCounty.com/ARPA

Help Needed to Set Up/Staff Christmas Village Display

I am organizing weekend open houses for Benicia with a large miniature Christmas village, a reading corner for Christmas stories for kids, and hot cider and cookies in the Parish Hall. Please join me in setting up my Snow Village Christmas Village on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 1-5 pm, with finishing touches on Saturday, Dec. 4 morning as needed.  Volunteers are needed at one of the open houses to be held the first three Saturdays and Sundays in December from 4-6 pm, or bring some kids to see the display!  I hope St. Paul’s with cover the first and third weekends in December.  Benicia Kiwanis will cover the second weekend.  For further information, contact Robin Silver.

Winter Cleaning Party

Dec. 11 at 9 am

It’s that time again!  Calling all volunteers for our bi-annual cleaning!  We can use help with polishing pews, cleaning, dusting etc.!  I will have a signup in the church office or call me directly! Morning goodies and pizza after!

Thank you!

Kim Rodekohr, Jr. Warden
