St. Paul’s Is Going Strong. . .and Your Pledge Makes Us Stronger

Thank you to those who submitted your digital pledge cards! Your pledge helps the Rector and Vestry set a vision for the coming year — it’s why we say “Your pledge funds the 2021 vision.”

It has been a challenging year for everyone, and we know the future is uncertain. Yet with God’s help we move forward full of faith, hope, and love.

Thank you for dreaming with us by making a pledge.

Please complete your pledge card by Sunday, Nov. 29.

If you have questions, contact JoAnn in the church office at admin@stpaulsbenicia.org or (707) 745-0307.

St. Paul’s Giving Tree 2020

Like many of the traditions that have had to adapt in 2020, the Giving Tree is also pivoting. The Benicia Community Action Council (CAC), whose efforts we have supported through the 5th Sunday Food Bags, the Backpack Drive, and the Giving Tree, has decided that they will not be asking for wish lists this year. Instead, they are planning to provide families with a bag of food and a $40 gift card per child.

How can we help in this time of physical distancing?

  • Purchase and mail Walmart or Target gift cards in the amount of $40 to Benicia CAC
  • Purchase and deliver Walmart or Target gift cards in the amount of $40 to Benicia CAC
  • Support Benicia CAC’s efforts to stock their shelves with food staples and nonperishable holiday meal items (stuffing mix, canned fruits and vegetables, dried beans, rice, cereal, etc.) by purchasing or delivering them to their office.
  • Make a donation directly to Benicia CAC.

Grateful, Glad, and Giving will not be collecting gift cards or food items. This is to decrease exposure to Covid-19 during this current surge.

Benicia Community Action Council address: 480 Military E, Benicia, 94510

Hours of operation: Monday: 9 am to 2 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 9 am to 4:30 pm; Friday: 10 am to 2 pm

Request for Christmas Card Donations

Greetings St. Paul’s Family! In these times of physical distancing it is more important than ever to find ways to stay connected! One way I do with family and friends is by sending out holiday season cards. I always have many left over, so I’ve been making small bundles of 5 cards each to give out with stamps at an upcoming Community Meal. If you have any extra cards or postage stamps you’d like to offer, please let me know by Dec. 4. I can come pick them up or you could drop them off at my home. — Blanche Hilman

Stock Our Stand

The free food stand we’re hosting with Food is Free Solano is a popular spot for people in our community who need food. You can help us keep it stocked through the holidays by bringing any excess produce from your garden or an extra can or two of food. Fresh fruits and veggies go especially fast, along with shelf-stable proteins like peanut butter, canned tuna, and canned chicken. It’s an easy, zero-contact way to help our neighbors in need.

Community Meal Needs Your Help Community Meal Needs Bottled Water and Plastic Bags

We are continuing to serve meals twice a week—on Mondays and Wednesdays—for a total of 300 meals to go.  We also receive 90 boxes of dairy, meat, and fruit per week that we distribute to guests of the Community Meal. In addition, we provide single bottles of water. If you could please pick up a case of water when shopping and deliver it to the parish hall, that would really help. We could use more plastic bags, too!  You can leave them on the bench closest to the parish hall door (near the rectory).  Thank you for helping us serve our community!
