Call to Order: The April 21, 2020 Vestry meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm by The Rev. Annie Mertz.
Present: Jorge Castaneda, Cathy Cellini, Heather Healy, Charlie Kilbourne, Helen Kennedy Lazar, Del Baker-Medlock (Treasurer), Yann Jouvenot Sells, Rev. Annie Pierpoint Mertz (Rector), Kim Rodekohr, David White, Betsy Zampa (Clerk), Giovanna Zampa (Youth advisor)
Absent: Ken Nowinski
Heather Healy opened with a guided meditation.
Consent Calendar
Approval of March & Early April Vestry Minutes of April 7, 2020 – a motion was made by Kim Rodekohr to approve the March and early April Vestry minutes. Helen Kennedy Lazar seconded the motion. Passed unanimously.
COVID Finance Discussion
Excel Spreadsheet: St Paul’s Cash Flow (Revised 4-16-20).xls – The Vestry reviewed the attached spreadsheet.
Approval of March Treasurer’s report – a motion was made by Dave White to approve the March Treasurer’s report. Helen Kennedy Lazar seconded the motion. Passed unanimously.
Motion to Postpone payment of March Apportionment (due in April) – a motion to direct our treasurer to defer payment of our March diocesan apportionment for 90 days (as outlined by the resolution passed by the Diocesan Board of Trustees) was made by Rev. Annie. Kim Rodekohr seconded the motion. Passed unanimously.
April Finance Forecast
The letter that went out requesting Easter offerings has been fruitful. The income the Poll Workers earned will be signed over to the church and will be coming in. There will be cuts to musician hours as the diocese has stipulated that only 3 people should be present during the live stream. We will be alternating between Glenn Walp and Mark Sackett.
Summer/Fall Finances
- Pledge Campaign – what should that look like? The Vestry felt we should go ahead with a pledge drive.
- Fundraisers – The vestry was asked to think about ideas for fundraisers we can do at a social distance.
Rector’s report – Rev. Annie highlighted a few points from her report. Specifically, there have been many information technology challenges. She was able to pick up the new phone system from Federal Express. Andrew set up the email on a new server.
Annie has been attending weekly Zoom meetings with Bishop Meghan.
Annie has been attending weekly meetings with a group called Benicia Strong to look at the needs in Benicia and coordinating a response.
Call for Adjournment – Rev. Annie moved to adjourn the meeting. Kim Rodekohr seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The April 21, 2020 Vestry meeting was adjourned at 7:49 pm.
