Approved Vestry Meeting Minutes

Call to Order: The November 19, 2019 Vestry meeting was called to order at 6:36  pm by Rev. Annie Mertz.

 

Present:  Heather Healy, Barbara Jewell, Charlie Kilbourne, Del Baker-Medlock (Treasurer), Yann Jouvenot Sells, Rev. Annie Pierpoint Mertz (Rector),  Ken Nowinski, , Bill Smiglewski, David White, Betsy Zampa (Clerk), Giovanna Zampa (Youth advisor)  

Absent:  Mark Sally, Kim Rodekohr, Beth Gaines, Deacon

Meditation – Barbara shared a reflection on who we are as Christians and passed out information from  Presiding Bishop Michael Curry inviting us to practice The Way of Love.

 

Consent Calendar:

 

Approval of October Vestry Minutes –  A motion was made by Barbara to approve the Vestry Minutes from October.  Charlie seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Approval of Revised Treasurer’s Report for August 2019 – A motion was made by Charlie to approve the revised Treasurer’s Report for August 2019.  Barbara seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Approval of Treasurer’s Report for September –  A motion was made by Yann to approve the Treasurer’s Report for September 2019.  Yann seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.  (Clerk’s note:  The September Treasurer’s report had already been approved at the October Vestry Meeting.)

 

Approval of Treasurer’s Report for October – A motion was made by Dave to approve the Treasurer’s Report of October 2019.  Barbara seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Special Reports/Discussion Items:

Stewardship Update – Rev. Annie shared the latest numbers from the pledge drive.  We will continue taking pledge cards until December 1^st. 

Budget meeting was scheduled for December 3^rd at 6:30 pm.

Outreach to members – the Vestry looked over the church directory through the letter “M”.  Various vestry members and Rev. Annie agreed to take the opportunity to check in on folks they hadn’t seen in a while.

2020 Vestry Preview – Barbara, Mark and Ski are rotating off of Vestry.  There was discussion regarding other folks who may be excited to serve on Vestry.  A note will go into the announcements regarding same.

“Take me Out to the Ballgame” follow-up:

            Youth Ministry – Rev. Annie is working with Beckie on ideas for Youth Ministry.

 

            Adult Education – There are lots of ideas and energy for Adult Education.

 

            Leadership Development – During Rev. Annie’s last meeting with  the Worship                 Committee she talked with them about leadership development. 

 

 

Vestry Retreat – plans are in the works for a 1-day Vestry Retreat in February to  welcome and orient new vestry members. 

 

Family Weekend – Yann talked about the value and importance of a St. Paul’s Family weekend.  It was agreed that Yann may pursue making plans for a St. Paul’s Family weekend.

 

Maintenance:

 

Much thanks to Ski for making the rail by the BBQ and the shelf by the Organ.

 

Rev. Annie reported that the wi-fi project is underway.

Barbara called for adjournment at 8 pm.   Ski seconded the motion.  Motion passed.
