Upon the retirement of our contemporary musician, Mr. Mark Sackett, the congregation of St. Paul’s Benicia is seeking a new leader for our contemporary music ministry.
Job description
Our weekly 11:00 worship is lively, joyful, and multi-generational. The music leader oversees our committed choir and encourages congregational participation, which sometimes includes other musicians. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of contemporary worship music, excellent musicianship on guitar, and a collaborative working style. In addition, they will help track music licenses and ensure fair use. Familiarity with Episcopal worship and openness to working with children in the choir is desired.
Compensation & Time Expectations
This is a part-time, salaried position at $15,000/year annually, including paid time off for vacation, sick leave, and professional development. Outside of practice time, the musician should anticipate spending 3-4 hours/week to plan and lead Sunday worship and occasionally attend evening meetings. In addition, they may be asked to play at weddings or funerals (which will be compensated separately).
