Call to Order: The July 21, 2020 Vestry meeting was called to order at 6:33 pm by the Rev. Annie Mertz.

 

Present: Jorge Castaneda, Cathy Cellini, Heather Healy, Charlie Kilbourne, Helen Kennedy- Lazar, Yann Jouvenot Sells, Rev. Annie Pierpoint Mertz (Rector), Kim Rodekohr,  Art Schipper (Acting Treasurer), David White, Betsy Zampa (Clerk), Giovanna Zampa (Youth advisor) Donna Marshall (guest)

 

Absent:  Ken Nowinski

 

Yann Jouvenot Sells led the vestry in an insight meditation.

 

Community Meal – Donna Marshall – Donna reported that the Wednesday Community Meal at St. Paul’s is serving 100 meals per week.  She is encountering a greater number of folks who need food. She has plenty of food and plenty of helpers. Donna proposes to add another night  to the community meal on a trial basis.  The added meal would take place on Monday evenings beginning this Monday, July 27th through the month of August 2020.

A motion was made by Cathy Cellini  to approve Donna’s plan to begin serving a Community Meal on Monday evenings beginning July 27th through the month of August 2020.  Motion was seconded by Kim Rodekohr.  Motion passed unanimously.

Consent Calendar

 

Approval of June Vestry Minutes – motion was made by Helen Kennedy-Lazar to approve the minutes of the June Vestry meeting.  Motion was seconded by Yann Jouvenot Sells.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Approval of June Treasurer’s report – motion was made by Helen Kennedy-Lazar to approve the June Treasurer’s report.  Motion was seconded by Kim Rodekohr.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Re-Opening Plan  

The Vestry discussed the attached Stage 2 Re-opening plan that was developed by the re-opening committee.  The plan meets the standards set forth by both the County of Solano and the Diocese of Northern California.

Rev. Annie Pierpoint Mertz made a motion to accept the Stage 2 reopening plan.  Cathy Cellini seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

Betsy suggested that we might want to encourage folks to bring their own chairs to the outdoor worship service to cut down on the need for ushers to bring chairs in/out and sanitize. 

The taking of temperatures was also discussed and the general feeling was that it would be a good idea. Kim Rodekohr will investigate purchasing a touchless thermometer.

Fall Fundraising & Stewardship

Fundraisers: Digital Party of Parties & Online Auction

Ideas about an on-line auction featuring hand-made items from our many our talented parishioners were discussed. (wood-work, paintings, quilts, home-baked items). Yann suggested that the items might be auctioned off at the weekly Coffee Hour. 

 

Betsy suggested movie nights in the back yard of the church with limited numbers of people.  Betsy, Yann, Heather and Jorge will collaborate on this.

 

Annie asked the Vestry to think about people who might be willing to coordinate Party of Parties.

 

Pledge Drive:  to take place in October. 

Change Vestry Meeting Time  – Proposal: Switch back to 7PM – all agreed to switch back to a  7 PM start time for Vestry meetings.

 

Call for Adjournment – Dave White made a motion to adjourn. Helen Kennedy-Lazar seconded the motion.  The July 2020 Vestry meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.
