Potluck and Sugar Skull Decorating Oct. 27 in Preparation for Dia de Los Muertos
Day of the Dead is a time to remember those who went before us, whose acts have made our lives better. Who do you want to remember?
Here’s a quote from Tyler Johnson: “For all death’s power, the things that always mattered most are the things it cannot take away.” That’s what those who celebrate Dia de los Muertos have always known. In remembrance of those things that matter, we will be installing an Ofrenda outside later this month.
On Oct. 27 we will enjoy a potluck and decorate sugar skulls in the parish hall starting at 6 pm. What’s in a sugar skull and why are they decorated for Dia de Los Muertos? Mexican people know that while death is real, life is sweet and often hilarious. Hence sugar skulls.
Our inside Ofrendas will be installed for visiting on Oct. 28, and our Dia de los Muertos Sunday will be on Oct. 29. We hope you will join in the festivities. If you would like to help decorate, call Barbara Jewell (510) 368-5072.
The Parties Continue
If you missed the Harvest Festival last weekend that kicked off signups for upcoming parties, there’s still time to participate. Several parties will be held next month and the remainder take place in 2024. Contact the church office at (707) 745-0307 or admin@stpaulsbenicia.org for more information.
